1. Music…The Best Selling Single Of All Time Is?
Did You Vote For Elvis Presley, Katy Perry, Carrie Underwood, Or?
The top selling single of all time is Bing Crosby’s White Christmas. It was written by Irving Berlin in 1942 for the movie The Holiday Inn. The movie starred Bing Crosby, Fred Astaire and Marjorie Reynolds. White Christmas has sold 50 million copies. No present day artist’s sales are anywhere near this number. White Christmas has been recorded by over 150 artists since 1942.
The back story for White Christmas was interesting. It has composer Irving Berlin sitting in his office not thinking of The Holiday Inn movie when the words popped into his mind. He screamed for his secretary to come in with a note paid. He immediately knew the song would be a giant hit. It is a nice story. We hope the story is true.
The second all-time single is Elton John’s Candle In The Wind/The Way You Look Tonight (1993/1997). Candle/Tonight has sold 33 million copies. The song was originally written as a dedication to Marilyn Monroe in 1993. In 1997 Elton John asked his co-writer Bernie Taupin if he could change the song. It was to be performed at Princess Diana’s funeral and to be recorded to raise money for Princess Diana’s foundation. All the money raised by the song was donated to the foundation. The title Candle In The Wind was taken from an earlier reference to Janis Joplin.
This year’s top four single’s list consists of:
1. Uptown Funk by Mark Ronson FT Bruno Mars (2.12 million copies)
2. Cheerleader by OMI (1.18 million copies)
2. Television…Shonda Rhimes…She Makes Television Zing!
Writing, Producing, And Family
How To Get Away With Murder
The Princess Diaries
“A lot of people dream. And while they are busy dreaming, the really happy people, the really successful people, the really interesting, powerful, engaged people? Are busy doing. I wanted to be Nobel Prize-winning author Toni Morrison. That was my dream. I blue-skied it like crazy. I dreamed and dreamed. And while I was dreaming I was living in my sister’s basement. Dreamers often end up living in the basement of relatives.”
Everyone that we mentioned Shonda Rhimes to said: “Who?”
We thought then it was only proper to put a face to the name that no one knows. For the last ten years Shonda Rhimes has produced and written some of the top shows on television and the big cinema screen. Most articles forget to mention the Crossroads movie that she made for Britney Spears in 2001. The movie garnered 60 million dollars in the United States and a similar amount in Europe. Nice Ms. Rhimes!
Shonda’s Rhimes’ mantel and display case are filled with television awards for writing and producing. She has created the top female centered shows on television for over a decade. Her top award, however, should be the one that shows Time Magazine naming her one of the top 100 People Who Shape The World. Yes! The World!
Keep an eye out in 2016 for her take on Kate Atkinson’s novel Catch. The series/movie will star Mireille Enos. It is billed as a thriller surrounding a duped marriage catch. Shonda, also, has a series called Gilded Lillys that is sitting unloved on the screening room floor. She wrote that in her spare time in 2014. We are starting a write in campaign to see this unappreciated work. One episode will be enough for its take-off! Help us! Please! We can make this happen without or with crowd funding.
3. Movies…The Big Short…Trillions Stolen, No Consequences Suffered!
Ryan Gosling, Brad Pitt, Steve Carell, And Christian Bale Tell All!
Center Stage, Please, To Explain!
If you cause everyday people (teachers, grandparents, mechanics, nurses, immigrants, and more) to lose 5 trillion dollars, cause 10 million people to lose their jobs, and force 8 million people to lose their homes…don’t you think you or someone should go to jail?
Michael Lewis’s book The Big Short and the new star packed movie of the same name outline the stock market and housing crash of 2007/2008. Don’t worry if you do not understand the stocks, finances, mortgages, and banking terminology of present day America presented in the movie. Top stars the likes of Selena Gomez, Anthony Bourdain, and Margot Robbie are inserted throughout the movie to define technical terms used that you may not understand…Funny, but sad, given the story! What the movie will make you understand is the unbelievable collusion and cheating conducted by thousands of mortgage brokers, real estate sale’s people, bankers, money lenders, and analysts that lead to the crash of 2007/2008.
Michael Lewis, also, wrote The Blind Side. The Blind Side and Sandra Bullock’s Academy Award winning performance introduce the tackle position in football. It is the position that protects the quarterback’s blind side when he or she is trying to throw a pass. Ryan Gosling, Brad Pitt, Steve Carell, and Christian Bale played the real life characters that tried to stop the American public from being blindsided by a world network of banking and mortgage crooks. No one would listen. Your listening skills, money sense, and banking skills will become more acute by seeing this movie and the spot on acting of this backfield of stars.

Art To Me:
Art is an amazing thing. It allows us to escape our day to day lives even if for a moment to step into a world created by the artist. I love running into art that captures your attention and draws you in.
Art has always played an important role in my life. It has been a stress reliever, entertainment, income, and a joyous hobby. I am involved in an online art community that allows me to connect with other artists while sharing my own art. I am able to learn and grow through those connections.
I have been drawing for as long as I can remember. I find joy in creating things from storytelling to beaded jewelry to art. As a child, I wanted to be everything that normal children would name- a firefighter, a ballerina, a police woman, a doctor, a lawyer, etc. It wasn’t until my 8th grade year that I decided to become more serious in my art.
My sophomore year of high school, my art teacher pulled me aside after class and asked me if I had thought about doing something with my art. She recommended that I go to a vocational school for my remaining two years of school and enroll in the computer graphic design program. It was there that I began to learn more about the art world and what I could do with my favorite pastime. I have been drawing since.
